WHAT VOLUNTEERS DO
Volunteers assist our staff with daily activities designed to insure our participants engage in socialization while they are here. You will be doing things like:
•Calling Bingo, playing board games, shooting baskets, playing kickball, helping with arts and craft projects, or assisting with exercise.
•Going on field trips to places like the Prodisee Pantry, the library, bowling, movies or out for a yogurt or popsicle.
•Helping coach basketball or baseball.
The goal is for our volunteers to interact with and enhance the participants’ Foundation experience. Sometimes that may be just sitting around talking with a group of guys or girls about music, movies, pets or their love life!
Volunteers join us for a variety of reasons. Some are here for course requirements, others for service hours. However, many of our volunteers come just because it is fun and flexible.
You don’t have to make an appointment or commit to a regular schedule. In fact, once you’ve been through our volunteer orientation, you can show up any day Monday thru Thursday from 8:00 - 6:00pm and we’ll engage you in whatever group activity is under way. You can stay for just hour or you can stay all day! We even have some weekend opportunities available as well.
BRING YOUR GROUP
As EFGC’s population continues to grow we are working to raise awareness of our mission to enrich the lives of the special needs community through social and recreational opportunities. We believe it is important that donors, sponsors and supporters have an understanding of what we do at the Foundation. We are grateful that so many businesses and organizations have taken an interest in our Foundation, and we would like to share the joy we experience here every day with your employees. We have a variety of corporate volunteer opportunities available or can create a special experience tailored specifically for your company or organization.
HOW TO GET STARTED
First, our volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and MUST attend EFGC’s volunteer orientation before they can begin.
For a appointment for orientation please contact Linda McNamara at 625 - 8955.
